Requirement for the admission to the examination is successful participation in all 8 training modules of the “Professional for Biotechnology (TÜV)” of the TÜV Rheinland Bildungswerk.

Written exam (multiple choice and open questions)

By fulfilling the admission requirements and passing the written examination, participants prove their competence in the following areas:

• Biochemistry / protein analysis (protein isolation / protein concentration / chromatography / SDS-PAGE / Western Blot)
• Immunology (antigen and antibody testing / ELISA)
• Molecular biology (gel electrophoresis / plasmid isolation / cloning / restriction cleavage / ligation / transformation / PCR / isolation of chromosomal DNA)
• Cell culture (suspension cells / adherent cells / strain maintenance / transfection / eukaryote cells / fluorescence microscopy)

The competence gained enables the immediate return of BTA’s to biotechnological labs at universities, pharmaceutical or biotechnological companies after prolonged professional absence. Lateral career changers such as CTA’s or MTA’s gain the competence in order to change into another area of work.
