Certification Program Title:Professional for Gerontological Psychiatric Care (TÜV)
Admission Requirements:

State geriatric nurse or nurse with a minimum of 3 years professional experience.
Successful participation in the TÜV Rheinland Akademie training course “Professional for Gerontological Pychiatric Care (TÜV)” recognized by the certification body. Admission to the examination is granted upon a minimum attendance of 80% of the total 320 teaching units.

Examination Components:

Written examination (multiple choice and open questions) and project work

Required Competencies:

In the examination participants prove their knowledge in the following areas:

  • Fundamentals of gerontology, gerontological psychiatry and geriatric medicine
  • Legal fundamentals
  • Care fundamentals
  • Conditions, causes and risk factors of mental disorders in old age.

"Professionals for Gerontological Psychiatric Care (TÜV)" have the knowledge in order to act professionally according to the care situation of gerontologically psychiatrically changed people. Additionally they support and advise involved relatives.
