The project activity “16.0 MW bagasse based cogeneration project at Ahmadnagar, Maharashtra by M/s Mula Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd.” is a power capacity expansion grid connected cogeneration project. It is proposed by M/s Mula Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd and involves the installation of a new power plant adjacent to an existing power plant, at the premises of their sugar factory in Sonai village in Ahmadnagar District, Maharastra, India. The project was commissioned in December 2006.

Total estimated GHG emissions due to the project activity are expected to be on an average 40,246 tonnes of CO2 per year during ten years of chosen crediting period

Description:	The 16 MW capacity cogeneration project at M/s. Mula Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd (MSSKL), Ahmednagar district of Indian state of Maharashtra will integrate existing sugar mill operations with enhanced energy efficiency measures and optimum usage of bagasse. The proposed cogeneration unit will cater to the plant’s need in terms of steam and power requirement, during both crushing and non-crushing season. The surplus power will be supplied to the state owned grid. At designed capacity levels, the proposed project will be able to supply 56.39 million units (MUs)/year to the grid. Both in-season and off-season operations of the project will be restricted to the use of non-fossil fuels, i.e. bagasse/biomass.
