The test includes:

1. Corporate Carbon Footprint

   The corporate carbon footprint summarizes the direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions of a company along the entire value chain, starting from the use of fossil fuels in production to the acquisition of electricity and water to the emissions caused by employees commuting and traveling to work. This certificate is issued when the carbon balance meets the rules set out in DIN EN ISO 14064.

   

2. Certified Calculation Method

   This keyword is always used in combination with “Corporate Carbon Footprint”, “Product Carbon Footprint” or “Life Cycle Assessment”.

   Many organizations do their own calculation of their carbon footprint or life cycle assessment.

   TÜV Rheinland has defined criteria to evaluate that the method applied by the license holder for:
   (1) Calculating a Corporate Carbon Footprint according to ISO 14064, in conjunction with Greenhouse Gas Protocol, or
   (2) Calculating a Product Carbon Footprint according to ISO 14067, or
   (3) Calculating a Life Cycle Assessment according to ISO 14040/14044

   is in conformity with the above-mentioned standards. This means the method is scientifically and technically valid, sufficient and in line with the requirements and criteria as set out in the applicable international standards, in their valid version.

   The respective documented procedure for the calculation of the carbon footprints or the life cycle assessments is verified regarding plausibility and completeness. In addition, the calculation model applied is assessed regarding transparency, completeness and consistency.
