The participants bring the following educational and professional background:

• Bachelor degree or above in the field of engineering (or equivalent competence level)
  
  AND
   
• Minimum of three years relevant technical working experiences
  
  AND
   
• Participation in the training course Machine Safety of the provider TÜV Rheinland Commercial Products Greater China approved by PersCert TÜV. The course duration is 4 days. The presence is documented by signature of the participant. Admission to the exam is subject to a minimum attendance of 80%.

• Written Exam

In the examination participants prove their knowledge in the following areas:

• Machine Safety principles
• Steps to CE-Marking and documentation
• Risk assessment
• Risk reduction and standards
• Functional safety (Performance Level-PL)
• Main EU product directives

Successful candidates are in a position to Machine Safety Specialist (CE) have the competence in order to:

• Identify and implement the applicable European standards
• Draw up the relevant documents incl.
  • user manual of a machine
  • technical file of a machine
  • EU declaration of conformity
  • layout of a CE type plate
• Understand and apply the CE marking process
• Knowledge to apply the different risk estimation tools and principles of safety integration
• Perform a risk assessment for a machine according to EN/ISO 12100

In a recertification process participants have to prove their expertise is up to date by:

• Passing a set written exam
• Record of relevant working experiences over past three years
