Admission Requirements:

The participants have the following educational and/or professional background:           

  • State recognized degree in Engineering (Bachelors or Masters) or equivalent competence level, proofed and accepted by PersCert TÜV (at least certified technician with 1 year working experience in machinery design)
  • A minimum of 1-3 years relevant professional experience       
  • Participation in the training course "ATEX Professional with TÜV Rheinland Certified Qualification" by D&F Consulting B.V. approved by PersCert TÜV. The course duration is 3,5 days with a total of 28 hours á 45 minutes. The presence is documented by the provider by signature of the participant. Admission to the exam is subject to a minimum attendance of 80%.

Required Competencies:

After following the complete training course, successful participants:

  • are able to apply the most important and most used standards, like EN-IEC 60079-10-1, EN 1127-1, DIN EN 13463 (until 10/2019), ISO EN 8007936 / 8007937 (from 11/2019)
  • are able to choose the right measures in zones
  • know what to do when changes within zones are proposed
  • know the requirements for equipment within zones
  • know the function of the explosion protection document
  • are able to perform a basic ignition hazard assessment
  • know how to perform a zoning study
  • know the parameters leading to an explosive atmosphere
  • know the scope of the EU directive 2014/34/EU

In a recertification process participants have to prove their expertise is up to date:

  • Successful participation in a relevant training comprising a minimum of 2 teaching units per year or minimum half a day during the validity period of the certificate ( copy/copies of the confirmation of participation)
  • Proof of continued professional experience with tasks relevant to Explosion Safety
