Admission Requirements:
  • Structure Protection Technicians, Bricklayers as well as Journeymen and Master Craftsmen in concrete construction.
  • Participation in the 3 day theoretical and practical training course of the German Structure Protection Association
Examination Components:

Written examination comprising 58 multiple choice and open questions in the following areas:

  • Protection against corrosion through the concrete
  • Carbonation, covering of concrete
  • Damage assessment
  • Measuring the depth of carbonation
  • Measuring concrete covering
  • Identification of pollutants
  • Methods and equipment for removal of damaged concrete
  • Methods and equipment for preparation of subsurface before applying protective paint or repair mortar
  • Methods and materials for the protection against corrosion of exposed reinforcing steel
  • Methods and materials for filling damage to concrete surfaces with mortar. (OS systems).
  • Methods and materials for protection of concrete surfaces (prevention, maintenance)
  • Building of so-called concrete surface repair systems
  • Subsequent treatment of repaired concrete surfaces
Required Competencies:

Successful participants of this examination are capable of assessing damage to concrete surfaces and its causes. They have the qualification in the field of renovation methods and materials and can plan and monitor the necessary renovation measures.
