  • A completed technical vocational qualification as master craftsman or technician and a minimum of 9 years professional experience or a technical Masters degree in engineering and 5 years professional experience. A minimum of 3 years activity must be proven in the SE competence areas described in the normative document chapter 4.2. A least 3 competencies must be covered.
  • A valid Level C certificate or alternatively a written admission exam which the candidate takes based on their professional experience and practical SE activity.
  • Successful participation in the 9 module training programme “Certified Systems Engineer” according to the curriculum of the Gesellschaft for Systems Engineering and recognized by the certification body. Admission to the exam is granted on a minimum attendance of 80%.

Written examination (multiple choice and open questions)


In the examination participants prove their knowledge in the following areas:

  • Overall project interfaces
  • Interfaces between Systems Engineering and Project Management
  • Systems Engineering Management
  • Requirements management validation and verification
  • Implementation processes
  • Cross departmental functions within development projects
  • Conflict management and social competence

The “Certitified Systems Engineer (GfSE) ® Level B with TÜV Rheinland Certified Qualification” is capable of a holistic approach towards complex technical systems and their life cycle and has mastered the essential steps of process management.
They can apply the standards regarding development models, system life cycles as well as technical development processes and manage interfaces to project and quality management.


The participants prove that their competence is up-to-date in a recertification process.
