Admission Requirements:

Completed vocational qualification in natural sciences or higher qualification in natural sciences (Biologist, Chemist, Physician, “BTA, “CTA” etc.)

Successful participation in the seminar “Clinical Monitor” comprising 80 teaching units in 3 modules with the following contents:

  • Tasks of a monitor
  • Basic knowledge in pharmacy and medicine
  • Clinical development
  • Good clinical practice (ICH-GCP)
  • Relevant legislation und legal framework
  • Dealing with data / Quality control
  • Objective oriented communication and rhetoric
  • Self organisation

Participation counts as successful, if the participant is proven to have attended 80% of the total seminar by signature.

Examination Components:

Written exam (multiple choice)

Required Competencies:

By fulfilling the admission requirements and passing the exam participants prove the necessary competence in the following areas:

  • Law
  • Clinical Development
  • Study planning
  • Monitoring
  • Communication
  • Specialist terminology

As a result the successful candidate is in a position to work as a clinical monitor comprehensively taking all relevant aspects into account.


Proof of at least 1 years practical experience in the certified field during the period of validity and proof of participation in training (Minimum length of 2 days during the period of validity), in which changes in the field of certification were covered.
