• The authorization to use the professional description according to §1 (1) No. 1 and 2 of the law for medical care (Medical Care law of 16/07/2003) or the law concerning professions in elderly care (Elderly Care Law §§1 and 2 of 1/08/2003 must be proven. 2 years professional experience is recommended.
• Successful participation in the Coloplast GmbH training course “Specialist for Ostomy Care”. The part time training comprises 120 teaching units (theoretical part) and 40 teaching units (Practical part). Admission to the exam is granted upon a minimum attendance of 80%.

• Written examination (Multiple choice and open questions)
• Hospitation report
• Colloquium (Presentation of hospitation report and specialist dialogue)

In the examination the participants prove their knowledge in the following areas:

• Nutrition
• Oncological care
• Pain management
• Patient education
• Health systems
• Communication
• Law

“Specialists for Ostomy Care with TÜV Rheinland Certified Qualification” have medical, care and specialist competence and are in a position to recognize care problems, define are targets, to plan their implementation, implement and then evaluate. They can carry out care tasks independently and take on the psychosocial care of the ostomy patients and their relatives.
