TÜV Rheinland Proof - Certified Quality Toys

The TÜV Rheinland Mark for toys identifies all products that meet both the safety requirements of the EC Toy Directive 48/2009/EG as well as criteria for harmful substances especially adapted to toys plus any previously defined quality features.

TÜV Rheinland has defined a catalogue of tests, which defines minimum safety standards depending on the product and manufacturer specifications. In addition to the EC Toy Directive, the test catalogue is based on internationally valid standards and industry standards and exceeds these. Depending on the product, it may include electrical, mechanical, chemical or microbiological safety tests, such as flammability tests, tearing off of small parts or testing for heavy metals. The product has been tested in the laboratory according to these criteria.

Additional quality features such as the play value are determined by teachers establishing test catalogues which define the suitability of the toy for promoting the age-appropriate and healthy development of the child.

The manufacturing process of the products to which this mark has been awarded is regularly monitored. The test mark is valid as long as the test principles are current and the certificate is not cancelled by the customer or TÜV Rheinland. The validity of the certificate expires if the product is modified.

Certified products may be marked with a test mark.
