TÜV Rheinland tests consumer products ranging from textiles to prefabricated houses to ascertain they do not contain harmful substances above strict limit values.
This certificate documents that tested products meet both basic safety requirements as well as criteria for harmful substances.
TÜV Rheinland has defined a catalogue of tests, which defines limit values for various substances depending on the product and its normal usage. The test catalogue is based on internationally valid standards and industry standards and exceeds these. Depending on the product, it includes various tests such as checks for odor, REACH substances of very high concern, banned azo dyes, or heavy metals. TÜV Rheinland tests the product in the laboratory according to these criteria.
Certified products do not reveal any hazard or risk to human health according to the current state of knowledge.
The manufacturing process of the products is regularly monitored. The certificate is valid as long as the test principles are current and the certificate is not cancelled by the customer or TÜV Rheinland. It expires if the product is modified.
Certified products may be labelled with a test mark.
