Environmental product declarations (EPD) for building materials and products provide a basis for the assessment of buildings on an ecological level in line with the certification program of DGNB (Deutsche Gesellschaft für nachhaltiges Bauen e.V.), LEED or BREEAM and are based on ISO-standards.

Potential ecological impacts of products during the complete life cycle "from cradle to grave" are assessed in a life cycle assessment according to DIN EN ISO 14040 and DIN EN ISO 14044. Relevant emissions, resource supply, energy and material flows (inputs/ outputs) are displayed and resulting ecological impacts are quantified.

Arising data are extended with e.g. risk assessment information. After this process plausibility and completeness check is performed and the type III environmental declaration according to DIN ISO 14025 is completed.
