The standard ISO 15378 for primary packaging materials is a quality management standard especially developed for manufacturers of primary packaging materials for pharmaceutical products.
It is based on the internationally recognised standard ISO 9001:2008. In addition to the requirements of ISO 9001, a number of additional criteria have to be fulfilled in ISO 15378 specifically for the primary packaging industry.
These include among others: lot tracking, controlled environmental conditions, validations, risk management.
