ISO 14001:2004
ISO 14001 is for organisations with higher goals than reacting to requests from authorities, consumers and the public. A proactive Environmental Management System supports confidence in the sustainable development of business with a long term perspective.
The ISO 14001 is a systematic approach to improve environmental performance rather than merely meet legal requirements. Using this standard, companies find value beyond saving energy or reducing the cost of waste during the production stage. They also initiate green-design concepts which appeal to more customers and reduce their operating cost.
ISO 14001 can be combined with a quality management system, occupational health and safety system and industry specific standards. DIN EN identifies the German and European equivalent to the ISO international standard.
